Today I went to town and picked up a letter from my physio therapist to take to the surgeon that did the repair work on my shattered left wrist. I then went for x-rays on the wrist so the surgeon would have current pictures to look at, then it was time to drive over for my appointment with said surgeon. I have been having a lot of pain in the wrist and lower arm, especially if I try to use it, bend the wrist or pick up something even as small as a book. I also have pain in the thumb and what the call a 'trigger finger' in the middle finger due to the tendon getting stuck. The surgeon, Dr. Splawinski, has now scheduled me for a second surgery that I hadn't planned on. It seems that the pain is likely due to complications with the metal plate & 9 screws he had to put in when he did the repair surgery in September. At this point, it sounds like it will be March 30 when I have the surgery to remove the screws and plate, but that will be up to the hospital. I sure hope it is that day as then I can still be healed enough to ride my trike this year. Dr. S. figures May or June is what I'm looking at now to start riding again. Usually these metal plates & screws are left in for the rest of a person's life, but if they cause problems they can be removed and I am one of the few that have to get it taken back out. I'm not happy about this but guess it has to be done so no point in whining about it.
This evening I did a full hour on my exercise bike. This is the longest time so far. I'm feeling good about this, mentally & physically.
Now off to bed to read and sleep. Nite all!!

Smokin' Baby!
I must admit that I am smokin', Baby!! No, not smoking as in puffing on a arturo fuente or a Players or anything like that. I mean smokin'! Okay, what I am talking about is my exercise. 3 nights in a row I did 45 minutes on my exercise bike then yesterday I did none due to a headache I had all day. Today I went to my regular Thursday TOPS meeting and of course the regular weigh in. I am down 2.25 pounds!! I was the "best TOPS" today so that was cool. I had planned that tonight I would do another 45 minutes on the exercise bike, but I didn't do that. Why?? Because I did 50 minutes instead! Haha. It feels really good I must admit. I am determined to turn the fat to healthy muscle, to see smaller numbers on the scale and to wear smaller clothes. Yup, healthy and slim is my goal. I plan to do minimum 45 minutes exercise minimum of 4 days per week, expanding it eventually to minimum 60 minutes exercise minimum of 5 days per week. I also plan to eat less 'junk' and less bread, as well as more vegetables. Not easy for me but a must if I want to be healthy.

My Weight and Health
2.5 hours moderate to vigorous exercise per week.... that is what they just said on the TV News (Global BC) is what adults NEED to be healthy. I didn't catch what they said kids need. However, few people actually get the required amount. Sad.
45 minutes x 3 = 2.25 hours so I'm very nearly there this week. I know I will get more yet before the week is over. I know too that I need more than the 2.5 hours exercise if I want to loose the excess pounds... and I do.

Weight Loss
I honestly don't know what the best weight loss supplement is, but maybe I should read and find out. I use smarter food choices (keep messing this one up but am trying) and exercise. I am getting better with the exercise part of it. 3 nights in a row now I have done 45 minutes on my exercise bike. This is really good and something I must do regularly. Unfortunately I had a headache most of the day today so didn't do any exercise. I will do it again tomorrow, even if I have to break down and 'take something' for the headache. I believe that I will wake tomorrow morning and feel great.
I must get everything ready tonight so that in the morning I can get out of here on time. I have to run into town to grab some juice to mix my MMS, then off to the town to the north for my weekly TOPS meeting where I will find just what happened with my weight this week. I sure hope I've lost something.

Some Basic Facts
Here are a few 'Basic Facts' about me so you can get to know me a bit better... or not.
- I type with all of my fingers. Each finger knows it's own keys and does not know the other fingers keys. This made it very difficult for me to type when I had one arm/wrist in a cast.
- I don't care for people who are dishonest, I much prefer people who are honest. I choose to 'hang out' only with honest, intelligent people.
- If I ask you something and you don't know the answer, I will respect you if you tell me you don't know but will find out for me. I will not respect you if you try to 'BS' your way through, acting like you know when you don't.
- I am not one to buy phentermine. I am not a total 'health freak, but am trying hard to get more into that. Not that I judge those that do buy these, we all make our own choices and this is a good thing.
- I have several birds... 1 Indian Ringneck Parrot/Parakeet, 2 Pacific Parrotlets, 4 Cockatiels. If I don't cover their cage in the evening, Billy Bob and Tiki, both males that share a cage, can be very noisy. They need their sleep.
- I have a cat who doesn't bother the birds or the rabbit or the 4 chinchillas. Mewsic is a great cat and really loves to sleep and snuggle with me.

Grateful
I totally believe in being grateful for all things, big and small....
- I am grateful for my eyes. they make it possible for me to see the beauty around me, for me to read books, to see where I am driving my truck. The make it possible for me to see babies, old folks, and all in between. I love being able to see animals, to see the view from my home, lakes, mountains and all of nature at it's finest.
- I am grateful for my hands/wrists/arms for without them I would not have my independence. I am thankful to have the ability to be independent, to do what I need to do for myself. Having a broken wrist and a sprained wrist have made me really realize just how much we do with our hands/wrists/arms, just how important they are to our every day life. Two hands/wrists/arms make it possible to take care of my personal hygiene, to feed myself, to clean my home and to care for my animals, as well as to drive my vehicle. Only a few months ago I had to depend on others to open doors, to put seat belts on me in their vehicle, to wash my hair and all other little and big things one needs hands for.
- I am grateful for my legs/feet/ankles as they make it possible for me to walk, to drive, to enjoy much of life that I otherwise couldn't partake in. My good friend Joyce shattered her ankle and I see how adversely that affects her life. She can't walk more than a few feet at a time and often must use a walker. Since I have been taking her to wanding group (see above link to Amega Global) she has been doing much better and for that I am also very thankful.
- I am grateful I have nice skin as it helps me to look attractive and to feel good about myself. I have never had to use acne face wash, just normal washing of my face. I've had very few pimples and only then when having my 'monthlies'. I am blessed to have very few wrinkles, I am blessed to have "my father's skin".
- I am grateful for my home. I know that many people have no home at all and it is way too cold to be outside with no home to go to, no bed to sleep in. I am safe and comfortable in my home. Though it is not the nicest home on the block and all my siblings have nicer homes than mine, I know that mine is perfect for me and I am so very happy to have it.

Stressing...
Sometimes I wonder if they'll ever invent some kind of medical equipment that we can wear on our heads to be able to 'get it together & keep it together'. Sheeesh, I can forget things so easily or get confused and distracted. For example, to day I was thinking it was the 18th but just realized it's the 19th, darn. Oh well, guess there's nothing I can do about that now, but I sure wish I'd gotten things done today that I thought were good 'til tomorrow.
I guess it has something to do with the fact that I was very distracted with other problems. I'm letting a guy move onto my property, to live in a travel trailer a friend left here awhile back. It should have been simple, easy... but it seems to be full of complications. I dislike complications... especially when there shouldn't be any. This guy seems to be the type to create problems where there should be none. Sure wish I'd known that sooner. And life goes on, so all will end up good I'm sure.
All in all, with a few things currently happening in my life, I'm getting too much stress happening here lately. I must learn to 'chill, baby'. haha.

TO DO List
Here I sit at my laptop, playing solitaire and watching TV, now blogging, while the rest of my To Do List waits. Dan came over today and helped me, brought in a jug of water that he bought on his way and we went to get more pellets for my stove. I previously bought a ton, 50 bags and have been taking them as I need them rather than the whole ton at a time like I usually do. First I took 5 bags, then 15, now 15 again so have 15 bags there yet. This is my second ton so far this winter. Since my left wrist was broken and my right one sprained just 4 months ago, I can't carry the 40# bags myself, so must depend on friends, usually Dan, to do this work for me. He loaded the 15 bags into the truck there, then unloaded them here, bringing 4 bags into the house and the rest into the carport. He filled the stove & the tote box beside the stove and there are still 2 bags unopened on the chair beside the stove. This helps a lot and I am so grateful for his help. He also phoned around looking for a used winter tire to fit my truck and found just 1, apparently this is a hard size to get as everyone wants them. I must run to town really soon and buy that tire, get it onto the rim & onto the truck. My spare which is on the truck is an 'all season' and the rest are 'winter', so not good.
The To Do List also has lots of other things on it... so will go get the tire done and come home to do more work around here. I'm trying to clean up the house a bit even though I can't do a lot with the wrist yet. Hey, it's gotta be done, right? Right.

Dreaming

As I've told you in previous posts here, I would love to renovate my home, especially the kitchen and the bathroom. I want to make both larger and install more cupboards in both. My towels currently reside on a shelf I put up in the bathroom, right above the toilet. I want to have a much bigger bath tub so I can actually get in and soak without being tied up like a pretzel. I would also consider having one of the pedestal sinks as they look so much nicer than the built in sink/vanity that I currently have. I must say though that the vanity does give some storage space, but I don't like putting stuff there are mice seem to keep getting in there. I've done work to block them from getting in, but there are some places I just can't get to so can't put tin or that spray stuff in. If I got to do the renovations I want to do, I could block all wholes where mice can get in. I'm pretty sure the bathroom is the last place they can get in, I think I've blocked the rest up.
At this time, renovations are, for me, just a dream.... and as Carl Sandburg said, "Nothing happens unless first a dream..."
My Ride
I love my ride.... my Yamaha 650 Maxim custom Trike. It was a total wreck in September when I was riding it and was riding through the city where I live and was in a collision with a car (100% her fault), so I am currently keeping my eyes open for parts to rebuild. I have arranged to buy another Yamaha 650 Maxim motorcycle and will use most of the back end of the old trike, though still will need some new/used parts to put it back on the road.
What do you ride? If it's a snowmobile, I can't help you with parts, though if it's a snowblower you are in luck as I know where you can get snowblower parts. Even if you have a walk behind snowblower you can get parts for it here. 95% of all parts ship the same business day · Return any part for any reason, even electrical or special order parts · Call or use live chat from 8:00 am until midnight 7 days a week · More than 1,500,000 parts for more than 125 brands · More than 200,000 high definition photographs · Easy to use part replacement videos · Free online repair help for most repairs · Appeared in more than 5,000 magazines, newspapers and TV news programs · A+ BBB ranking and very high rating on online review sites.
Since it's the dead of winter and even if I had a working trike I couldn't ride it at this time of year or with my wrist that was broken in the crash, I would love to have this snowblower to ride. It sure would help in my yard as a snowblower by winter and a lawn mower by summer.
